Via Licensing acquires MPEG LA
The two groups have agreed to merge, bringing together their extensive patent pools for audio and video under one roof.

The combination, called Via Licencing Alliance (Via LA) creates the largest patent pool administrator in the consumer electronics industry. The increased scale of is expected to provide improved expertise and support for patentholders and licensing customers.
