Changing Western European pay TV picture

OTT pay TV and IPTV offers crossed the 50% penetration of pay TV subscriptions mark in Western Europe in Q3 2022, highlighting the continuous progression of OTT services and its adoption by telecom operators.

This comes as traditional pay TV operators are increasingly turning away from traditional pay TV offers to IP-based TV distribution: in two years, the number of subscriptions to either IPTV or OTT has grown by almost 18% in Western Europe, while the other accesses have declined by 7.5%, according to researchers at Dataxis.
